Attorney Malaguti has dedicated close to fifteen years of his teaching life to instructing students in constitutional law issues and matters pertaining to civil rights. Attorney Kurt Olson has both taught in the area of civil and constitutional rights, and he has represented many clients in seeking redress for constitutional violations, including verdicts and settlements for police misconduct, unlawful convictions, and constitutional violations committed by prison officials.
We have extensive trial experience, and we are intimately familiar with causes of action which can be brought to seek relief from official misconduct, including state and federal statutes and regulations. Because we stay up-to-date on changes in the law as promulgated by state and federal legislatures and interpreted by state and federal courts, we are well-equipped to obtain favorable verdicts and compensatory settlements for our clients.
Because of our finely honed legal research capabilities, we consistently advance novel legal theories. These theories often convince courts that statutes should be interpreted differently than governments would suggest; more importantly, they lead to changes in the law because of legislative recognition that public policy demands such change. While clients appreciate the results we obtain for them in individual cases, advocating for changes in the law often results in systemic change in the policies and procedures of prosecutors’ offices and police departments.
